Days/Times: Thursday 8:00 am-5:00 pm
Number of Sessions: 1

Description:   This course will teach the basic techniques of Decoying Police K-9’s while maximizing the full potential of your K-9 unit. Departments with K9 Units invest large amounts of money and find that they are not getting the maximum out of the K9. Many departments to this day do not have a trained decoy. Therefore, this severely hurts that K9 unit as a dually functioning unit. During this basic introduction “the decoy” will learn the proper techniques to catch a dog safely as well as minimize injury to both “the decoy” and the K9. Further instructions and simulations will be given to “the decoy” while learning how to gain the maximum benefit of their K9 Unit. This course of instruction requires a great deal of one on one training, for this reason class size will be limited to the first fifteen (15) applicants. This is a working seminar that will conduct practical exercises with and without the use of K9's. Equipment need: All sleeves and suits will be supplied. K-9 handlers are encouraged to bring their K-9 to ensure rotation of several dogs. If attending class as a K-9 team helper, no equipment is required but it is recommended to bring plastic cleats and groin protection.
